Kickin' some CPAP butt

They took Cayden's CPAP settings down another notch today, which puts him at the lowest setting they use on that device.  Every time they make a change in his respiration where it decreases the help he's getting, it can cause him to have more issues with desatting and bradys and the like, but so far, he's been doing very well.

His weight is now up to 2 lbs. 10 oz.  I know he's still tiny, but when you consider he's almost 33% heavier than he was at birth, that's a big change!

A couple nights ago, I put up some Christmas decorations around his pod - snowflakes and cranberry red beads, a ceramic angel to watch over him, and a big gold bow on the top of his isolette.  The nurses love it -- I hope he does too!

We need a new picture of this 'fat' boy! Especially with all of the 'spaghetti' gone.

Dear Anonymous,

How amazing! Is 'Ferguson' your son's middle name or last name? And he's also a 25 weeker? Who would ever imagine! I'm curious to know how you came up with your son's name. We wanted names that gave him my initials (our first son has his dad's initials), and we also wanted names that had good vibes and relevant meaning. We did a reverse name meaning search and found that "Cayden" means "warrior" or "battle" and "Ferguson" means "man of strength". Given his start in life, we found those names to be fitting!

Congratulations on the good health of your son. It's amazing what we've been through and I look forward to the day when we can celebrate our son's third birthday too.

Would love to know where you're from - judging from the way you wrote your son's birthdate, I'm guessing it's not the U.S?

Feel free to contact me at staloo@ix.netcom.com if you'd like to communicate further!
